I am prety sure I have multiple bookmarks to the same url.
Will there be development in the bookmarks manager to detect those?
If not what solutions have posters here for this? (I didn't find an
addon for
it)
You may wish to consider AM Dead Link.
http://www.aignes.com/deadlink.htm
I've used it for some years now and it seems to work with Seamonkey
(which it may find as Mozilla Suite) Opera, IE and Chrome. The
program
helps to eliminate obsolete and duplicate bookmarks.
Rechecking the AMdeadlink website it specifies a check for duplicate
now
also. Maybe time to revist that functionality.
Downloaded it and installed.
The check for duplicate is grayed out when checking the
bookmarks.html of
SeaMonkey.
I get e lot of error indications, but not sure if it are false errors.
Maybe be it's because I am running in wine.
OK, hold everything. Ignore the above. I'm still working on this.
SeaMonkey is still storing bookmarks in the HTML file. places.sqlite
holds the history.
Backup your profiles before doing this:
1. In Firefox do Bookmarks - Organize Bookmarks
2. Delete all the bookmarks
3. Choose Import and Backup - Import HTML
4. Select your SeaMonkey bookmarks.html file
5. Close Firefox
6. Run AMDeadlink and select Firefox 3
7. Click the Find Duplicates button
8. Eliminate the dupes you don't want
9. Click the check button if you want to find dead links
10. Exit AMD
11. Open FF - Bookmarks - Organize Bookmarks
12. Choose Import and Backup
13. Choose Export HTML and save the file to your SM profile
