I have noticed that on occasion URL addresses that appear in list or
newsgroup messages, that start with http:// do not show up as an active

What is the message window for this group's "view message body as" set
to?

Assuming it's set to one of the two html options, set it to "plain text"
and see if the link activates.

I suspect that since most messages here are in plain text and their urls
convert to links, but that the messages that show this behavior are in
html format and have only the link text and no associated link created
for the text.

The SeaMonkey email reader is smart enough to recognize http:// as links
and so they are clickable.

Not true - my wife send me a mail with an url. This url is *not*
clickable. If a do a forward of this mail to myself, i receive a mail
whre the url is clickable. STOP saying always "SM is smart enough" (i
have another case showing SM not smart at all)

Any *correctly formatted* link when received in Seamonkey is clickable:

http://www.mysite.com
http://mysite.com
www.mysite.com

All clickable.

mysite.com isn't because it isn't a URL.

I have done extensive testing of this since your post and cannot
duplicate any abnormalities with non-clickable correctly formatted
links/URL's.

You say your wife sent you an email with a link that isn't clickable.
Can you post the link just as it was sent? Does the link have a space in
the url, an illegal character? SM will not render such but IE and some
others will, depending on the nature of the formatting.

What i find strange is that the link is not clickable, but when i do a forward to myself the same part of the mail is now clickable :-)
SM is smart enough to transform a non-clickable into a clickable link !
