Somehow my FILE/PAGE SETUP/MARGINS& HEADER/FOOTER margin measurements
got set to millimeters. How do I set them back to inches? "Help" file
is of no help.

Check your printer setup to see if you're set to metric.

Nope, printer/printers are all set in inches. Checking about:config
show that margins are set to 0.5 and paper size 8.5 and 11 which I
assume must be inches.

Interesting, I can't force it to mm .. no idea at the moment.

Assuming a Windows system, have you tried Control Panel | Regional and
Language Options | Regional Options | Customize | Measurement system |
"U.S." instead of "Metric"?

Yep, everything fine there. All set to English, US.

One more suggestion ...

Locate your profile and the file "localstore.rdf". Make a copy of the
file and then delete the original. Start SM and see if that fixed it. If
not then delete the newly created one and rename your backup copy back
to the original localstore.rdf

Done and still shows it as 12.7 millimeters instead of 0.5 inches.
Back to the original rdf file.
