Somehow my FILE/PAGE SETUP/MARGINS& HEADER/FOOTER margin
measurements
got set to millimeters. How do I set them back to inches? "Help"
file
is of no help.
Check your printer setup to see if you're set to metric.
Nope, printer/printers are all set in inches. Checking about:config
show that margins are set to 0.5 and paper size 8.5 and 11 which I
assume must be inches.
Interesting, I can't force it to mm .. no idea at the moment.
Assuming a Windows system, have you tried Control Panel | Regional
and
Language Options | Regional Options | Customize | Measurement
system |
"U.S." instead of "Metric"?
Yep, everything fine there. All set to English, US.
One more suggestion ...
Locate your profile and the file "localstore.rdf". Make a copy of the
file and then delete the original. Start SM and see if that fixed
it. If
not then delete the newly created one and rename your backup copy back
to the original localstore.rdf
Done and still shows it as 12.7 millimeters instead of 0.5 inches.
Back to the original rdf file.
Create a new profile and if it still shows in mm's then it's something
inherent in that particular release.
Continued with my investigation.
Saw that the settings for print.print._unwriteable_margin_ x were all
set to '-1' in both my profile and the virgin test profile.
All of my printers (HP5400, Fine Print, PDF Creator, and PaperPort) had
those settings at '0'.
Not knowing exactly what that meant,I changed the Fine Print printer
settings to '-1' and my millimeters went away and inches returned.
(Yes, I know - if you don't know what a setting is for DON'T TOUCH IT!
But sometimes you just got to take the bull by the horns.....)
After a restart of SeaMonkey, the '-1' setting that I had placed in the
unwriteable_margin settings of Fine Print printer had returned to '0'
since that's what the prefs.js file has in it, but the "PAGE SETUP'
settings remained in inches.
Sort of like the last time - made a change - millimeters went back to
inches and the change I made disappeared.
Question is now ... how did it get changed in the first place??
Very good question without an answer. My pref.js is a virgin file.
Only changes are the addition of mail and printer settings which haven't
been touched since I created the Profile.
I do not have a user.js file and I don't normally play with any settings
using the about:about functions.
Possibly one of the add-ons? I use:
