That is preferable to having to remember to flag that

Sounds like an idea worth pursuing. I usually use the "Address" button
on the Compose window, select the list and click the BCC move button
since I don't always remember the list name until I see it.
If I could remember all the list names, I'd probably forget to select
the BCC option when entering the name in the field manually. (:<
