The INBOX wasn't being compacted unless I hilited the INBOX and then FILE => Compact Folder. Now the file(s) is/are gone. Best I can remember this isn't the way it was in Netscape and earlier versions of TB. Also, customizing the toolbar with "Delete" and "Compact" only refers to the Trash folder.
