shows that the problem is not new
renaming the mimetypes.rdf file (stop seamonkey before, and restart after) seems to have fixed it
this file can be garbaged, I dont know why

I tried this and the problem is corrected. I did a test email of a
particular .pdf file which had exhibited this problem a few weeks ago,
and this time it went through perfectly.

Re-naming the mimetypes.rdf file in your profile directory causes SeaMonkey to create a new mimetypes.rdf file. However, it didn't contain the information for all the helper apps which were configured in the original file.

I decided to see what would happen if I went back to my original mimetypes.rdf file. I did another test email. The file STILL went through perfectly. Very strange! Perhaps forcing SeaMonkey to recreate a mimetypes.rdf file also cause it to correct some other error??

In any case, my problem seems to be resolved, at least for now, and now I know something to try as a fix if it happens again.

Thanks for your help, cyberzen!
