With my 933 mHz Dell 4100 using Windows XP-Home, SM v.2.0.11, and Avast!
security software, when logged in to a limited user account, many images
are blocked. When logged into an XP-Home administrator account, images
appear normally. In either case, it doesn't matter whether the Avast!
software is disabled or enabled. I have also disabled all SM add-ons and
the Microsoft firewall. I have been consistently using the Mapquest home
page background map and e-Bay images for test purposes. Both the SM
image general permissions and the image permissions for these two
particular sites were set to permit the images to appear. When logged in
to an XP-Home limited user account, the Mapquest background map simply
doesn't appear and most of the e-Bay images appear for a second or two
and then disappear. When logged in to an XP-Home account with
administrator privileges, the images appear normally for both sites.
I was about to conclude that this problem is endemic to XP-Home when I
went to the same two sites using Internet Explorer, v.8.x, instead of SM
v.2.x, as the browser. Logged in to XP-Home either as a limited account
user or to an account with administrator privileges, the images appeared
properly when using IE, v.8.x, regardless of whether Avast! and the
Microsoft firewall were disabled or enabled.
Accordingly, this blocked image situation appears to be some sort of a
problem with the way SM v.2.x interacts with the limited user account
function of XP-Home.
While I am primarily interested getting the XP-Home limited user account
to work properly with SM v.2.x's display of images, this situation
strikes me as sufficiently unusual that I am also curious as to what
might be causing it. Solutions, workarounds, and insight are eagerly
welcomed.
One other detail that I should add: the image blocking problem with
XP-home limited accounts did not exist with SM v.1.x. It was only when I
updated to SM v.2.x that the image blocking with XP-Home limited
accounts began.
Check this setting in SM 2.x
Edit/Preferences/Privacy & Security/ Images / Image Acceptance Policy.
Accept all images.
