You will be able to delete individual messages from disk storage in SM SM 2.1.

Font settings can be defined per "region" (lacking the correct word here). In Preferences > Appearance > Fonts, use the drop-down after "Fonts for:". AFAIK "Other Languages" implies UTF-8 which is often used instead of more specific "regions".
