Earlier today I just noticed that sometime in the recent past
my address books must have been deleted. i.e. I noticed that older
addresses in both my personal and collected addresses were gone.
I have restored older versions of abook.mab and history.mab from
backup and placed them under new names abook-xxx.mab and
history-xxx.mab in my profiles folder.
Now I'd like to know how to merge the entries in abook-xxx.mab
and history-xxx.mab into the current abook.mab and history.mab

It's easy in Linux or OSX, have no idea in Windows other than the previously mentioned manual picking of addresses.

But for the Linux/OSX folks:

If you save the address books to be merged in {tab} format instead of LDIF, you can then use the command line "sort" command, with the "-u" option to delete duplicates, and get a merged list which you can import. I use the {tab} because I might have a comma in a comment, etc, or a display name from captured addresses.
