Mon, 08 Aug 2011 09:29:10 +0300, /Stanimir Stamenkov/:
On the other hand, I now see in the "Known Issues"
<http://www.seamonkey-project.org/releases/seamonkey2.2/#issues>:
* After creating a news account through clicking a news URL, the
MailNews account wizard may be broken (the account type will always
be News). To work around the problem, set the
mail.server.serverX.valid pref (where X is the internal number of
the corresponding news account) to true in about:config, or delete
the invalid news account (bug 521861).
So you may try, after opening the "Mail and Newsgroup Account
Settings" dialog, searching for a suspicious additional news account
and delete it, if don't know how it got there. Then try to add the
new mail account.
If you don't find a suspicious additional news account to delete,
you may have go the other way suggested in the release notes:
* Open the <about:config> page - just enter "about:config" (w/o
the quotes) in the Location/Address field of the browser;
* Enter ".valid" (w/o the quotes) in the "Filter:" field on the page;
* See if there are any "mail.server.serverX.valid" entries with
value (in the rightmost column) of "false" - double click that entry
to change the value to "true".
Please post back whether this or the previous suggestion has helped,
so others possibly encountering the same problem may benefit from
this thread, too.
