Yes, I had a similar experience a few years back with earlier versions
of the Reader and Acrobat. Apparently (and quite reasonably, I think),
the programs get confused if you have them both installed and eager to
read PDFs. Of course, if you have the full program, why bother with the
stripped-down reader? So like you, I dropped the reader.
