Because the preference is installation wide, editing it via
about:config will not work.
The only way to switch to the release channel is to manually install
the latest release from <http://www.seamonkey-project.org/>.
Thanks Chris, I went ahead and upgraded to 2.4 Beta 1 and everything
seems fine so I guess I'll just stay on the beta channel until one of
them breaks something I need.
