Mandriva Linux is now distributing itself on a USB stick, so someone can
plug the stick into any computer and boot into Mandrive.

This is certainly possible, but .. (there's always a but, right?) .. if
the friend is not capable of downloading SeaMonkey on her own, and
configuring an email address[1], how could she be expected to cope with
USBs and completely strange operating systems?
Sorry, BTS, my mentioning Mandriva Linux on a USB was merely as an
example of what is possible, not suggesting the friend change OS's.
Just have an icon on desktop which starts SM on the USB (using profile
on the USB).
