That does not happen. I get no response and no indication of any
Internet activity.
Neither do I, which was the reason for the question.
When I visit about:addons, the status bar says "Waiting for
static-cdn.addons.mozilla.net" for the longest time... After about five
minutes, it finally displays a list of available addons. Then when I
click "Plugins" on the left, I quickly get a list of installed plugins,
plus the link you mention, and that takes me here:
<http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/>. This works.
