I updated to SM2.6 beta and so far so good. I'll do testing for the next
several days.

Have you tried the standard troubleshooting techniques? Start with
Add-ons disabled, Try a new profile.
Do you have Enable Pipelining checked?
No it isn't possible to go back to SM 2.4, but will be possible to
upgrade to SM 2.6, if it is released next week.
