This part worries me in terms of recommending (for anyone) Changing our installed files will make the partial updates fail to apply, and can cause other problems that are hard to correct. What I would instead recommend is to create an extension to solve this issue for yourself, you can even do extensions restartless (I make no claims if THIS code you are editing is doable as a restartless addon, but it *IS* doable as an addon).
