The bug is now open and has remained open for three days without again being closed. Apparently, some Mozilla developer thought I was asking for a NEW user-set background color specifically for stand-alone images. Since I clarified that I merely wanted an option for the same user-set background color for Web pages that has been a feature since the days of Netscape Navigator -- and was used for stand-alone images before the recent disimprovement -- it seems that opposition to my bug report has been reduced. -- David E.
