Frog, you may have noted posts from Paul and NoOp complaining about us
(you and me) not trimming our posts, and quoting and quoting and quoting
old stuff. To make them (and, to an extent, me) happy,I have snipped all
the previous information here in my reply, but, if we need to refer to
it, it is still on the newsgroup.
Do you know where I might learn more about the correct procedures for
timing messages? I notice that your messages do show the message trail
at the top your messages...I'm not sure whether this happens by your
typing in that information or whether is happens thru some automated
process. I do understand that I must make the decision about what should
be timed...but then what?
Frog, in your reply to me, the "System" inserted the "Daniel wrote:" and
then it indented all my reply one level. Now that I have replied to you,
the "System" has added the "Frog wrote:" and everything is indented and
the text is, automatically, indented a further level.
I'm not really sure I understand how the pruning of messages works at
this point. I am not clear on what you mean when you talk about the
"System" inserting information. In any event, I will let this subject
alone for now, as it will cause somebody to inform me that it is off
topic in this thread.

I now have everything I want to salvage in the E:\SeaMonkeyProfile
folder.
Good

I want to make sure of what I am doing at this point, so here are my
questions. I conclude, based on your instructions above, that the
C:\Documents and Settings\Frog\Application Data\Mozilla folder has
nothing to do with 2.8---is that correct?
I would expect so!! To make certain, if you have some sort of archiving
program, archive everything under C:\Documents and Settings\Frog, (save
the archive file on your E:\, then delete everything under C:\Documents
and Settings\Frog and see if you experience any problems
As I noted in my last message,
one SeaMonkey folder does have a sub-folder Profiles that that includes
a sub-folder titled 7pq1gq46.FrogBarbara. I know that I have had
problems when it do anything to any of the SeaMonkey folders under
Mozilla...that is the reason for this question. Is it okay to delete all
of the SeaMonkey folders under Mozilla?
If you have copied/moved all the inbox's and sent'x and draft's to the
new profile, then it should be o.k. to delete all of the SeaMonkey
folders under Mozilla.
Edit->Preferences->Advanced->Cache and Clear Cache.
I understand.
Thanks again for sticking with me on this subject---I would be lost
without help like you have been providing to me.
Frog
Daniel,
I finally got the nerve to move the sub-SeaMonkey folders listed under
C:\Documents and Settings\Kermit Taylor\Application Data\Mozilla to a
Temp Folder under E:\Temp...and 2.8 was back to behaving like a newly
installed piece of software. I then tried to return the SeaMonkey files
back to their original home under Mozilla...that didn't work either
because it informed me that such a SeaMonkey file already existed at
that location---I was not able to find said folder. I then created a
new profile FrogBarbara and pointed it to the E:\SeaMonkeyProfile
folder---2.8 was again working as usual. I checked the C:\Documents and
Settings\Kermit Taylor\Application Data\Mozilla location and there was a
new SeaMonkey sub-folder under Mozilla. This leads me to believe that
there is a connection between the C:\......Mozilla location and the
E:\SeaMonkeyProfile location. In any event, I believe everything is
working properly and that is good. Thanks again for your help with this
subject.
