I recently spent considerable time and effort upgrading to SeaMonkey 2.12

Microsoft let you do this in Word and Excel 15 years ago, and given the
complexity of the menus and the wide differences in what people needed out
of them, it was not a frivolous addition to Office 97.

I don't know how successful the uptake of the newer versions of SeaMonkey
has been, but right-clicking a link to open it in a new tab or window only
to find the entries intermingled with a dozen others is definitely a
non-starter, at least for me. Apart from visual distraction, the clutter is
simply unmanageable.

Rather than just complain about it here, I've emailed the extension author
but haven't received a reply. I realize that in managing the ongoing
development of a web browser there is a lot to keep an eye on, but I think
this is dragging down what is otherwise an excellent browser, and I hope the
people on the top floor can find a way to get this one done.

I'm not sure what you are saying. Have you tried right clicking on the menu bar and selecting the option "customize" which allows the editing of the menu? I am using the Mac version of SeaMonkey v 2.12 and the menu is fully editable and has been for a long time.
