Depends. Do you routinely receive email or visit webstites written in Urdu or Chinese or Sinhalese or Hebrew? If so having a font set that supports a larger range of unicode code points is an obvious advantage. I have currently installed a unicode font that supports all the latest Unicode 6.1 code points including the new Japanese Emoji. Now I'm pretty sure that I'll never have a use for the character representing a "pile of poo" but it's somehow comforting to know that the Japanese have a character available for any conceivable situation.
