In SM 2.12, I would like to allow the domain maps.google.com to set
cookies, but I can't seem to get SM to listen.
When I go to the page and pull down Tools | Cookie Manager, the setting
"Block Cookies from This Website" is enabled. OK, that's my old
preference. If I mouse over "Use Default Cookie Permissions" and click,
that should change the setting, right? Not so fast. If I do that and
then reinspect the pref, the old setting is still there, no effect of
the change.
So I went into the full Cookie Manager and searched on the domain: I
chose "All data types" in the left-hand panel and entered
"maps.google.com" underneath in the search window. No results (BTW, no
feedback indicating that the search has been performed and failed, just
silent inaction). I manually scrolled through the entire list of domains
and sure enough, it wasn't there. Scratching my head now -- how does it
know to reject all cookies if the site isn't listed? That's not my
default pref.
Anyway, I decided to add the site manually. On the "Permissions" tab on
the right, I clicked the "Add" button, entered "maps.google.com" where
it said "enter a host name," pulled down "Set cookies" from the list,
and clicked "Add." Sure enough, "Set cookies" came up above, with the
setting "Use default" (allow for session) enabled. Is that the end of
the procedure? Couldn't tell, so I clicked "Add" and was invited to
"Enter a host name." Seems like I'm done, but the feedback is pretty
poor. Just to be sure, I repeated the process, added "maps.google.com"
and "Use default." Got a second instance of the setting. Now I'm pretty
sure I've done everything I can, but with the poor feedback I'm still
not confident ath SM has actually heard and obeyed.
OK, so I opened a browser window and pasted "maps.google.com" into the
location bar. Checked cookie pref, and it's still "Block Cookies from
This Website." So all my effort to change the secret setting has been in
vain.
Can anyone tell me how to fix this? Or is it a known bug?
