Same thing has happened to me every time but one out of the last half
dozen releases (or more). Big pain, to recover all the various mail
folders and messages after setting up the "new" accounts. Happens
because the regular update fails, and I have to start with a full d/l
using IE (because SM is not usable at that point).
Still don't understand why the new d/l doesn't just pick up my existing
profile.

Do you have your profile in a non-standard location, such as another
hard drive?
Nope, standard: /C:/Documents and Settings/x/Application
Data/Mozilla/SeaMonkey/Profiles/random#
