The Collected address book is unique to SeaMonkey and Thunderbird.
Each time you press the send button to send a message, SM saves
the outgoing address in the Collected address book. This book only
contains a listing of outgoing addresses, but you can click on an
address in this book and drag it over to your Personal Address
Book.
Is there a setting for this? Mine certainly has never saved outgoing
addresses automatically. I manually moved some of my less-used
addresses in Personal to Collected, but those are its only contents.

Aha! Thanks. Still learning new things about SM.
While we're on this general subject, does anyone know what "OE
Contacts" signifies? (It's the 3rd address book in SM 2.14.1. . .)
Sounds like you upgraded from Outhouse Distress and imported its address book.
Gotcha. Nope, never used (or even installed) Outhouse Distress.
