Hi, I see that there have been some changes that affect sending
emails in 2.15, but looking at the Preferences > Mail/News Groups
section but there is not listing for Account Settings there to check
ports/passwords. The password isn't in Password manager and I don't
find any way to re-add it. Does anyone know where Account Settings
moved to?
Edit | Mail & Newsgroup Account Settings...
The last account is "Outgoing Server (SMTP)." If you want to tweak the
port or whatever, click the server name on the right and then click
"Edit." That won't give you access to your password, but if SM has
stored your password, it'll be in the Password Manager.
In the Password Manager, under "Domain," look for your ISP (e.g.,
"yourisp.com" and click it once. In the right panel you'll see an entry
like this:
smtp://smtp.yourisp.com
Click the "Show passwords" button at the lower right, OK at the prompt,
and you'll see what SM thinks your password is.
Normally, if you have the wrong password, the server will reject it and
SM will invite you to enter it again.
Are you sure it's not there? You won't find it under gmail.com because
Gmail isn't your ISP.
Paul, I'm guessing that Kirstin is looking at Edit->Preferences->Mail &
Newsgroups (in either the Browser or Mail/News Screen) when she should
be looking Edit->Mail & Newsgroup Account Settings (in the Mail & News
screen)!!
