By simply not opening any tabs, isn't one inherently selecting that
(imaginary) selection? Or have you found some way to accidentally
open tabs that pisses you off?

I really don't need tabs because in my taskbar, when my mouse go over
the the SM icon, windows7 show me all the opened windows with long title
text - this is not the case with tabs.
