You might try AM-Deadlink:

http://www.aignes.com/deadlink.htm

I understand AM-Deadlink does not support directly the Places database.
It might be possible to use it with an exported bookmarks.html.
However,
changes to bookmarks.html won't be imported back automatically into
Places.

McBastos, I, too, used to think that AM-Deadlink did not work with the
places-sqlite file (the updated bookmarks plus file), but I updated
(some time ago) and found that the later versions of AM-Deadlink *do*
work!!

Yes, the SQL files are supported, otherwise I would not have suggested
it.

But you can not edit the results-right?

Correct. From the AMD Help file:

AM-DeadLink can only read and check Firefox bookmarks, it's not possible to delete bookmarks directly from the Firefox database. To delete dead bookmarks from Firefox, you have to do this directly within Firefox. This restriction is required to avoid possible conflicts with the Firefox bookmark database (or also future changes to the Firefox bookmark database).

Possible work around:

AM-DeadLink also supports the old Firefox 2.x bookmark file format. You can export your Firefox bookmarks to a bookmarks.html file, open and change it in AM-DeadLink and re-import the bookmarks into Firefox.
