Hello,
Every time I try to update my Seamonkey, it makes a whole new version of
Seamonkey, so there are two on my computer, and it does not copy my mail
folders or other important profile information, so I end up having to
keep using the old Seamonkey and never upgrading, which makes the
browser useless.
So, in my current Seamonkey, I go to "download" the new version, and I
download and "install" it, but then when I restart my computer and open
my shortcut for Seamonkey, and click "about," it says it is still the
old version: SeaMonkey 1.1.18. If I go to my "start" and "all programs"
on my computer, or look at my programs in my control panel, I do see
there is another Seamonkey with the current version, 2.17.1. But if I
click on that, it does not have any of my profile information. i.e. It
is not the same home page or choice of mail profiles (I have two email
clients), and it downloads all my emails from the server only, rather
than retaining what was in my downloaded mailboxes....which is vital and
which I do very much need. A box also keeps appearing asking me to
enter some kind of administrator password, and then another asking me
for my earthlink password...
This has been happening for years, so that I've essentially never been
able to upgrade my Seamonkey and have to keep using the old version.
Please tell me how to upgrade so that it actually does upgrade, and
retains all my mailboxes and profile information, so that I can actually
use Seamonkey, rather than just adding separate new Seamonkeys which I
can't use because my mailboxes and all my mail etc. did not migrate.
Thank you,
Karen Moulding
