Is there a way, perhaps in auto:config, to set SeaMonkey to direct mailto:
links to an outside application instead of to the SeaMonkey mail module?

(I wasn't able to find anything about this in the preference panes, or in this
google group.)

Sorry, are you trying to say that when you click on a mailto: link on a webpage, you don't want SM mail to open up but, instead, to be able to use some other mail application??

If this is what you are asking, I know it is possible, by changing one of the settings in about:config, however I do not know which pref it is.

Someone else may be able to provide the required pref!!
