I am using SM 2.8 now... and was trying to wait until the next
release, but lots of web sites are not formatting correctly for
me now, so I'm thinking about upgrading and not waiting any
longer. TIA for any advice. :)

Short answer - go for it now ;)

Longer answer - In my experience as a Mozilla user since the days of Netscape 4.? I've not seen the stability/usability problems I believe you are alluding to. The biggest problem I've heard of is some add-ons needing to be change when SM went through a major revision such as going from SM 1.? to SM 2.0. I've been initially uncomfortable with some changes, but they really amounted to the difference between saying TO-MAY-TO and TO-MAH-TO.

For example I recently went from SM 2.12 to SM 2.17.1 without any version related problems. I had some glitches, *BUT* that was because I decided to update my profile at the same time - portions of which were almost a DECADE old ;/

I read all the messages about each new version, and I think the problems mentioned that worry me most, are the ones that result from using HTML in my daily e-mail. My friends send me frequent photos and we all exchange news items of interest to us all, so using text is out of the question. I think that's where most of the font sizing problems/changes arise. :(

I'm also a little concerned about the people who have had problems adding a new e-mail account. Nevertheless, I think I will try this weekend to see what 2.17.1 does on my laptop.

Thanks for your response. :)
