Well it definitely worked on what you posted, so let's try it.
That works! I think what happens is that when you don't skip a line, it
automatically spaces you down the equivalent of two lines, so it LOOKS
like you've actually created a full blank line between old and new. But
that's just an inadvertent deception, because in "post mode" the program
reverts to the normal single line spacing, so it all looks like one
post. I think that's referred to in the biz as a "bug".
