Having to diddle a preference variable via about:config is NOT user-oriented. If it were, bugs #178685 and #330858 would have been fixed instead of marked WontFix; and the resulting document would have been made available to end-users. Instead, the developers seem to have the position that end-users should not be touching preference variables -- except when they fail to provide appropriate user interfaces for significant capabilities.
