Your review of the headers indicated a change in the sender's
application.  The inclusion or omission of brackets is most likely a
function of that application.

On occasion, I filter and ignore all newsgroup messages
posted through GoogleGroups via Google's G2/1.0 user agent
because of spam from that source.
