Hey, Daniel! I only showed one profile. However, following your second
suggestion I was delighted to come up with 89 items on a search. I
managed to find the one relating to what I think is the file in question
and under profile I found a file "2qatbdob.default.
Within that file were four for my pop files. They were numbered 1
through 4. #4 was dated this past Wednesday when this mess started. I
checked its properties and it showed a little over 3MB in size.
Checking #2, dated last year had a size over 200MB.
So! If I go the #2 and check properties it says I can restore a
previous version. But #2 isn't currently running. How do I transfer
the data or tell my pc to use the earlier profile that didn't show up on
Tools->Switch Profiles check?
On the bright side I raked up 61 bags of leaves today.
Dave
Dave, well done, now, hopefully we can reclaim your lost data.
Dave before doing further, I should advise *Back-up, Back-up, Back-up*.
Copy the contents of any profiles found to so safe location, you know,
*just in case!!*
Now, just as last time you did a Windows Search looking for "inbox"
(without the quotes), this time do a search for "prefs.js" (without the
quotes). The prefs.js is the file that tells SM how it is set up, where
other files are located, etc. You should find at least two prefs.js
files, the one for your #4 (i.e. new) profile and the one for your old
profile, hopefully.
Note the location of your old profile, maybe something like
C:\Programfiles\MoreStuff\efvhhbfr.default\prefs.js. Remember the
C:\Programfiles\MoreStuff\efvhhbfr.default\ bit, whatever it might
really be.
Now, in SeaMonkey, go to Tools->Switch Profiles->Manage Profiles and
select to create a new profile, and, on the screen where you get to name
the new profile (call it ReclaimedOld, or whatever), on that same screen
selecting "Choose Location" or whatever, then you can tell SM where to
store this new profile in the location found above
(C:\Programfiles\MoreStuff\efvhhbfr.default\ or whatever it was!!). When
you do this, SM should tell you that there is already a profile there
and ask if you want to use it.
When you do this, you should be able to use the old profile or the new
profile, which ever you wish. If you want to combine the two profiles,
ask here!
Hope this gets you back up and running.
