Hello all, I Am running (or trying to) SM 2.21 on a Win8 desktop. I Am
re-installing SM and after spending several hours getting four (4)
profiles set up in a new configuration, I found this morning that it, SM
or my system, reverted back to a previous configuration with only three
of four accounts there and all many emails dl'ed in one account was
missing. I have deleted one profile and want to start again, but not
before this can be figured out correctly.

I have never had this happen before and find it quite strange to be
sure. My question(s)for assistance are as follows:

1) Any ideas as to how this could have happened and how to prevent
moving forward?

2) How do I delete the profile, reliably, beyond deleting it in the M&NG
screen? This way I can start again without much fear.

3) Where can I find directions and guidance on moving the program from
my c drive to d or e drive without a lot of fear of corruption or other
problems? ;-)

TIA for all of your input and guidance and support in this and all other
requests here.

bo, have you had a look at Tools->Switch Profiles? Do you see more accounts listed there then you thought you had? If so select the accounts, in turn, to see if they contain your lost Profile.

If that doesn't work for you, then try ...

1. Have a look at Edit->Mail & News Group Account Setting, select "Server Settings" for your e-mail account and, at the bottom of that screen, note the "Local directories" location. Completely close SeaMonkey.

2. Use your Windows Find Folders and Files function to search for "inbox" (without the quotes). If you find any inbox.msf files, don't worry about them, they are only index files and can be re-built as needed. If you do find any inbox files, apart from your previously located one (from Step 1 above), please see Step 3, else, sorry I cannot help you further.

3. Use your Windows Find Folders and Files function, this time to search for "prefs.js" (without the quotes), then start SeaMonkey, go to Tools->Switch Profiles, select "Manage Profiles" then "Create Profile" and, on the second screen, where you enter an account name (give it a distinctive account name), also select "Choose Folder" and and point it to one of the locations of the prefs.js files (note - don't point it to the prefs.js file, just to the folder that contains the prefs.js file). Do this for each of the prefs.js file locations except for the location you found in Step 1 above.

4. Restart SeaMonkey, select Tools->Switch Profiles and test each of the newly listed profiles to see if they contain what you're looking for.

Report back if you need further assistance!
