How did the rest of you move your older profiles?

You can have as many profiles as you want, and you can have each of them anywhere you want, and you don't need to mess with any INI files.

If you have an existing profile that you either want to use as-is, or have SM convert to a later type, put it someplace where you want it. A profile is a sub-directory. So give it a name that is meaningful to you. And then take SM by the hand and show it where it is.

If you only intend to use a single profile then you can get to profile manager at Tools > Switch Profiles. But if you want to be able to select different profiles at start-up, create a run object/shortcut with the Properties > Target in the form of;
H:\SM221-Win\seamonkey.exe -Profilemanager
When SM is executed like that it will first run profile manager from which you can select the profile you want. One thing this provides is for multiple people to use the same SM on the same computer but with their own profile. In my case it makes it easy for me to manage someones profile for them. I have a copy of their profile on my computer, I rework it, and then copy it over the same profile on their computer.

When profile manager opens, select Manage profiles > Create new profile. Give the new profile the name of the sub-directory where your chosen profile resides, and then as you continue, show SM where that profile/sub-directory is. When the dust settles, that profile will be on the profile manager list.
