You should update to 2.23 and read this bug report :

and the solution mentioned seems for en-US only, I'm using the *german language
pack*,

Lightning 2.8b1 en-US *is working* for me, Linux 32 bit, Seamonkey 2.23, as
this version of Lightning is *not multilingual* my calendar is english only.

You should contact the Lightning people about this. Its not a Seamonkey-related
issue that they made the dev builds english only.
Or you can wait until an updated multilingual version is released.
