Err, it wasn't my idea. You said the above, I checked it and reported back.
As to the point, I have come across several times in the past when
programs need to have a particular file in existance in order to
function properly, null content or not. So, sure, I can see an odd or
rare instance where attaching a null file makes sense: "Bob, save the
attached file to [path] and it should work."
