Unfortunately, SM's 'Tools', 'Import' can't import WLM .eml e-mails
directly. Unlike Thunderbird, the ImportExportTools extension (both
versions 2.7.2.2 and 2.8.0.4) is incompatible with SM V2.24 (well,
that's what I get when I try to install the .xpi file from file). While
the .eml files could probably be converted into something that SM would
accept, things are starting to get a bit complicated.

So my question is whether anyone has any recommendations for a simple
WLM-to-SM transfer?

So, you are able to get TB to import from WLM? Are you aware that SM and TB can share mail/news files?

I was actually importing .mbx files, but I'm pretty sure that .eml was also supported.

I have my mail/news files in a neutral location, outside the profile, on a data partition, and TB and SM both use them. No, not at the same time.

But how do you get SM to recognise the WLM's .eml files? Without IET, TB and SM can only import .mbx* (Eudora etc), .msg (Outlook) and .dbx (Outlook Express). Of course, a tedious solution would be to convert WLM's .eml files into one of these formats, and I'm presently looking at it. * Although TB and SM can import .mbx files, I know I had to use IET when I did my .mbx imports. I can't immediately recall why!
