I meant to mention this before but I found the "places.sqlite" issue
more important.
Prior to 2.31, whenever I'd launch Seamonkey under Ubuntu 14.04 ("Trusty
Tahr") I'd get two "icons" appearing in the launcher, the icon for the
browser (the standard Seamonkey icon) and the icon for the Mail/News
client (I have both launch by default) so it is pretty easy to switch
from one to the other via the launcher.
Also, if I opened a composition window, that would create another "mail"
type icon in the launcher.
Ever since 2.31, however, I only get one icon, and it is a generic gray
icon with a question mark in the center. Both components are still
active, and I can use those little icons in the bottom left hand edge of
Seamonkey itself to switch, but if I'm using multiple workspaces I can't
easily click back to where I want to go from the launcher. Clicking
that generic gray icon will take me to the last Seamonkey window I was
in; not specifically to the browser or E-Mail client.
I know as a Linux (Ubuntu) user I'm in the minority here but has anyone
else seen this?
Jamie, I just use a single Icon on my Mandriva Linux 2009/MageiaLinux 4
desktop to launch my Mail & News and Chatzilla screens which I had
previously selected at Edit->Preferences->Appearance, "When SeaMonkey
starts up, open". Then, in needed, I launch the Browser from the icon in
the bottom left of screen. (I install SeaMonkey on my .home partition)
So, sorry, cannot help!!
I am familiar with that. The "problem" here is that prior to 2.31,
every instance of Seamonkey running (Mail, Web, Composition, IRC, etc)
created an icon in the Unity Launcher so one could easily switch to
whichever instance you wanted simply by clicking the appropriate icon in
the launcher. The closest equivalent I can come up with is the
WindowsXP task bar that (normally) sits at the bottom of the screen.
I just checked my wife's "Mint" system, and it does create additional
"icons" in the Cinnamon task bar on that system. It just doesn't do so
under Unity and that's strange because that hasn't changed... only the
version of Seamonkey has.
I'm running "Trusty" and she's running "Qiana" so the underlying
operating systems are pretty much the same; just the desktop is different.
