Could you be clearing private data inadvertently by pressing the keyboard shortcut CTRL-SHIFT-DEL?

I do it regularly and intentionally. ;-)

Cookie lovers can exclude them from the deletion by unchecking the box at Edit | Preferences | Privacy & Security | Private Data:
...
When I ask SeaMonkey to clear my private data, it should erase:
...
[ ] Cookies

And of course most programs are prone to temp data loss in crashes etc.
