In the meantime, I have (again) reverted to 2.26.1. The passwords
reappeared WITHOUT me restoring my old profiles.
Are you sure you lost your passwords, because
Tools > Password Manager > Manage Stored Passwords
sends you the the aggregate Data Manager instead of the older password
only window:
<chrome://passwordmgr/content/passwordManager.xul>
