When I updated from SeaMonkey 2.26.1 to 2.33, my accumulated passwords
disappeared. I removed the Remember Passwords extension before trying
anything else.
Has anyone else seen this problem? If so, is there a bug report?
In the meantime, I have (again) reverted to 2.26.1. The passwords
reappeared WITHOUT me restoring my old profiles.
Are you sure you lost your passwords, because
Tools > Password Manager > Manage Stored Passwords
sends you the the aggregate Data Manager instead of the older password
only window:
<chrome://passwordmgr/content/passwordManager.xul>
In the Data Manager, I selected "Passwords only" from the pull-down list
at the left side of the window. The list of domains was empty (blank).
I also have the Password Exporter extension. It indicated that I have
no passwords.
All this was fixed when I reverted back to 2.26.1.
" If you encounter strange problems relating to bookmarks, downloads,
window placement, toolbars, history, or other settings, it is
recommended that you try creating a new profile and attempting to
reproduce the problem before filing bugs. Create a new profile by
running SeaMonkey with the -P command line argument, choose the "Manage
Profiles" button and then choose "Create Profile...". Migrate your
settings files (Bookmarks, Saved Passwords, etc) over one by one,
checking each time to see if the problems resurface. If you do find a
particular profile data file is causing a problem, file a bug and attach
the file."
[SeaMonkey 2.33 Release
Notes](http://www.seamonkey-project.org/releases/seamonkey2.33/#troubleshooting)
I know how to create new profiles. In this case, however, I have over
180 entries in my set of passwords. I do not want to enter them again.
Maybe tomorrow, I will export my passwords via the Password Exporter
extension while still in SeaMonkey 2.26.1. Then, I will install
SeaMonkey 2.33 and import them, also via the Password Exporter extension.
Well, creating a new profile, entering a few username/passwords, then
quitting and restarting SeaMonkey to see if they are still there might
tell you something. I have no idea how many passwords I have in my
Firefox, and would not want to enter all of them either.
Hope your method is successful.
