(I accidentally replied privately to Peter first time; sending to the
list this time)
For some reason, your email which appears to have been sent on 24th May
was only delivered to the mailing list yesterday (1st July), hence the
delayed response. Anyway, replies are inline below...

Dear Sirs,
I request some help with a problem I have had with sea monkey and if you
can give me some information as to why it happened and how I can recover
lost emails and the lost contents of my local contents folders.
The situation happened when I clicked under the help menu "restart with
add - ons disabled" which seemed to be quire innocuous
What seems to have happened is that the profile I was using has
disappeared and consequently all the emails both the In box and Sent for
all email addresses and all address books and all local folders.I send
all read emails to Local folders under different jobs and names
Did you select any of the options to make changes permanent? I don't
think any of them should cause emails to be lost, but I'm wondering if
the one to reset user preferences might remove the email account details
so that they're no longer shown in Mail & News.
I have searched for various profiles in the system and the lost emails
address books and local folders are not the ones lost.
Is there some other place where the lost profile may have been stored
sent or modified.
Alternatively it may be that, while in safe mode, you've created a new
profile or switched to a different one. Try Tools > Switch Profile, and
if there is more than one try each in turn to see if it's the one you
appear to have lost.
This page explains how to find the profile folder on disk:
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_SeaMonkey
Basically, on Windows, it should be in a subfolder of
%APPDATA%\Mozilla\SeaMonkey\Profiles\
Also is it possible to do an automatic back up of the profile being used
on a regular basis?
I include the profile folder in my regular disk backups, using Areca Backup.
I think some others here use MozBackup (or something like that), which
is dedicated to backing up Mozilla profiles. I've no idea where to get
it from (possibly addons.mozilla.org) or how to use it, but perhaps
those who use it will chip in.
Also when I tried to save an address book I had saved in a CSV or excel
file the addresses in this file saved them into a file called contacts
and no matter what I do to and have then added to Personal Address book
it appears to not be possible not possible.
I'm not sure what you mean. What is the "file called contacts" you mention?
SeaMonkey address books can be exported to CSV via Tools > Export; I
assume that's what you've already done. I've never really needed to
import address books, but there are options under Tools > Import >
Address Books which look hopeful. The file you're importing would need
to be in the right format. For CSV, it looks like you can tell it which
address book field corresponds to each column of the spreadsheet.
You might have to import into a new address book, and then move the
contacts into Personal Address Book if that's where you want them (just
select the contacts in the new address book and drag them into Personal
Address Book).
Even to bring Personal Address Book information to contact appears to
not be possible?
What do you mean by "bring Personal Address Book information to contact"?
Mark.
