In trying to update a copy of SM v.2.30 to the latest version on a
Win7Home Premium PC, the update fails and an error message is
returned claiming a 2nd version of SM is running. After a
file-by-file search using Windows Explorer, I couldn't find any
evidence of a 2nd copy of SM but I wasn't clear about what evidence I
should have been looking for.
Try looking at the "Processes" tab of Windows Task Manager
(CTRL-SHIFT-ESC). Do you see any SeaMonkeys there?
This sometimes occurs when SM doesn't shut down correctly.
Yes! I suffered the same problem for a long time - unable to discover
why, & yes a hidden copy of Seamonkey was still cranking according to
Ubuntu "Processor" display - as a matter of fact several Seamonkey
timers were running. With a short amount of time they did time out & a
new Seamonkey process could be started - no harm done. Just a nuisance!
Yet since updating to sm v2.33.1 it seems the problem is gone. At the
same time I am sure many updates took place for Ubuntu Linux. Which
update actually ended the problem I don't know. But it seems gone now
for at least 2-3 months.
I am running Ubuntu Linux 12.04LTS updated, & now a Windozz system
user complaint of the same bug, so I suggest the nuisance is more
Seamonkey related, than OS related. But who knows?
