But if you want to reproduce bug-observations it's always a good idea to
copy reporter's test conditiona as exactly as possible.
In the future, find out if there is any difference in the way the test
newsgroup is configured, compared to the groups in the STR. Then use the
test newsgroup for test posts. Remember that this newsgroup is has a
purpose for something other than test posts, and you're effectively
bombing it with test posts.

STR rather than mozilla.test.

Problem is that when we go to do these operations we aren't posting to a
test group.

What two groups do you suggest we use? I got reprimanded for using
m.test.multimedia, when testing to see if this bug was fixed.
Therefore, I now use m.test and m.general.
