I checked bugzilla, and didn't find anything, so I filed a report. In

Discussion there indicates that there's activity on this one, and I'm
interpreting that something that will be fixed when 2.41 is released.
BTW, after having created this newsgroup account, I'm unable to create
mail accounts now. The wizard always defaults to nntp accounts. How do I
select what kind of accounts I can create?
I think that's likely to be a separate issue.
