No I said. The logical step from aurora would switch to beta. Beta is
2.51 at the moment. 2.50 is the current release.
It should be stressed that these are Adrian's private releases ..i.e.
Adrian has a SM 2.50 release version and a SM 2.51 Beta version, maybe.
The latest Official release in SM 2.46 and there will, shortly
hopefully, be a SM 2.48 Beta release which will then become a SM 2.48
Release Version and then the SM 2.49 (Beta) will be the start of the ESR
versions.
At least, as I understand things!!
If you compile yourself clone comm-esr52 and apply the patch for bug
1353765:
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1353765
This gives you 2.49.1 which has all security patches from 2.50 Fx 53.
The 2.49 esr line will be the basis for the the next stable releases as
stated. 2.50+ still have some problems which are fixed but not as fast
as usual and you might end up with a broken build in the future. 2.54
based on gecko 57 might become a tough cookie depending on how fast
classic extension and theme support is to be removed.
2.49 and 2.50 profiles should be interchangeable but if you see an
indexDB error in the error console blow away the storage folder,
storage.* and webappsstore* from you profile.
There are changes in favicon handling in 2.52 and such a profile might
not be 100% compatible with an older version.
