There might also be a Windows 10 setting for selecting the default
E-mail application. I know that there is a Windows 7 setting for it.
If Windows 10 has any such settings, then both Windows and Thunderbird
both have to declare Thunderbird as the default E-mail application.

Consider:
* Most state mandate that drivers have liability insurance.
* Employers are mandated to have worker's compensation insurance.
* If you live in a flood zone, flood insurance is mandatory.
* If your home has a mortgage, fire insurance is mandatory.

Why then is mandatory health insurance so bad??
