I see that the release of 2.49.1 is beginning to show up on some of the
third-party download sites. To me, that's a positive indication that
2.49.1 is almost at official release. I know that some of these sites
will start showing downloads as soon as they hit the official Mozilla
server, although I'm content to wait until formally offered at
https://www.seamonkey-project.org/.

At the moment, I'm actually running Adrian Kalla's 2.51 build (in
Windows), because I wanted to make sure I was running with security
updates that hadn't yet hit the official releases. Now, with things
better sorted out with Firefox ESR builds, I'm happy to move back to the
official releases, but I want to make sure I do so without disrupting my
installations.

I *think* the procedure I want is:
- Back up current profiles
- Uninstall the 2.51 installation
- Perform new install with the 2.49.1 installer.

The one thing that I'm unsure about is fallback, if something goes
wrong. I'm not seeing any downloads of Adrian's installers (and I think
I did mine at about 2.49, with subsequent incremental updates).

Anything that I need to be aware of before attempting this transition?

Smithy, I'm no developer, just a user like yourself, but ......

The question I would have to ask you is why do you want to remove the (Adrian's) SM 2.51 installation before you install the (Project's) SM 2.49.1??

Sure you could uninstall, but why?? Leave the 2.51 in place and then do a *CUSTOM* install of 2.49.1 to any (other) location that you'd like. That way, if the new, Custom install mucks up, you have the 2.51 to fall back on (Don't try using both versions at the same time. It probably would not work ... unless you've done some other fiddling!!).

I currently have about a half dozen SM's installed on this Laptop, dating back to probably Ver 2.0 or more!
